BNV : পঁচিশ বছর বয়সে যিহূদার রাজা হয়ে অমত্‌সিয মোট 29 বছর জেরুশালেমে রাজত্ব করেছিলেন| তাঁর মাতা য়িহোযদ্দনও ছিলেন জেরুশালেম থেকেই|
KJV : Amaziah [was] twenty and five years old [when] he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name [was] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
YLT : A son of twenty and five years hath Amaziah reigned, and twenty and nine years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem,

ERVEN : Amaziah was 25 years old when he became king. He ruled for 29 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jehoaddin. Jehoaddin was from Jerusalem.

BNV : অমত্‌সিয প্রভুর অভিপ্রায় অনুযায়ীসমস্ত কাজ করলেও তিনি সর্বান্তঃকরণে এইসব কাজ করেন নি|
KJV : And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.
YLT : and he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah -- only, not with a perfect heart.
RV : And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.
RSV : And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not with a blameless heart.

BNV : অবশেষে তিনি রাজা হিসেবে নিজের শাসন প্রতিষ্ঠিত করলেন এবং যে সমস্ত রাজকর্মচারীরা তাঁর পিতাকে খুন করেছিল তাদের হত্যা করলেন|
KJV : Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, when the kingdom hath been strong upon him, that he slayeth his servants, those smiting the king his father,
RV : Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants which had killed the king his father.
RSV : And as soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand he killed his servants who had slain the king his father.
ASV : Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.

ERVEN : He became a strong king and killed the officials who had killed his father the king.

BNV : কিন্তু অমত্‌সিয এইসব ব্যক্তিদের সন্তানদের হত্যা করেন নি| কারণ তিনি মোশির পুস্তকে লেখা বিধি অনুযায়ীকাজ কর়েছিলেন| প্রভু আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন, “সন্তানদের অপরাধের জন্য যেমন অভিভাবকদের মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়া যাবে না, ঠিক একই রকমভাবে পিতামাতার কোনো অপরাধের জন্য কোন সন্তানকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়া ঠিক হবে না| কোন ব্যক্তিকে কেবলমাত্র তার কৃত কোন কুকর্মের জন্যই মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়া যেতে পারে|”
KJV : But he slew not their children, but [did] as [it is] written in the law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
YLT : and their sons he hath not put to death, but [did] as is written in the law, in the book of Moses, whom Jehovah commanded, saying, `Fathers do not die for sons, and sons die not for fathers, but each for his own sin they die.`
RV : But he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.

ERVEN : But Amaziah obeyed the law written in the Book of Moses and did not kill the official's children. The Lord commanded, "Parents must not be put to death for something their children did, and children must not be put to death for something their parents did. People should be put to death only for what they themselves did."

BNV : অমত্‌সিয যিহূদা এবং বিন্যামীনের সমস্ত ব্যক্তিদের একত্রিত করলেন এবং তাদের পরিবার অনুযায়ীপৃথক করেছিলেন| তিনি তাদের সৈন্যাধ্যক্ষ ও অধিনাযকদের কর্ত্তৃত্বের অধীনে রেখেছিলেন| 20 বছর বা তার বেশী বয়স্ক লোকদের সৈনিক হিসেবে নিয়োগ করা হয়েছিল| এভাবে সব মিলিযে ঢাল ও বল্লমধারী মোট 3,00,000 য়োদ্ধা ছিল|
KJV : Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of [their] fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice [men, able] to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
YLT : And Amaziah gathereth Judah, and appointeth them, according to the house of the fathers, for heads of the thousands, and for heads of the hundreds, for all Judah and Benjamin; and he inspecteth them from a son of twenty years and upward, and findeth them three hundred thousand chosen ones, going forth to the host, holding spear and target.

RSV : Then Amaziah assembled the men of Judah, and set them by fathers' houses under commanders of thousands and of hundreds for all Judah and Benjamin. He mustered those twenty years old and upward, and found that they were three hundred thousand picked men, fit for war, able to handle spear and shield.

ESV : Then Amaziah assembled the men of Judah and set them by fathers' houses under commanders of thousands and of hundreds for all Judah and Benjamin. He mustered those twenty years old and upward, and found that they were 300,000 choice men, fit for war, able to handle spear and shield.
ERVEN : Amaziah gathered the people of Judah together. He grouped them by families and he put generals and captains in charge of these groups. The leaders were in charge of all the soldiers from Judah and Benjamin. All the men who were chosen to be soldiers were 20 years old and older. In all there were 300,000 skilled soldiers ready to fight with spears and shields.

BNV : এছাড়াও অমত্‌সিয ইস্রায়েলের থেকে 33,4 টন রূপোর বিনিময়ে 1,00,000 সৈন্য ধার করেছিলেন|
KJV : He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.
YLT : And he hireth out of Israel a hundred thousand mighty ones of valour, with a hundred talents of silver;

ERVEN : Amaziah also hired 100,000 soldiers from Israel. He paid 3?tons of silver to hire these soldiers.

BNV : কিন্তু এসমযে একজন ভাব্বাদী এসে অমত্‌সিযকে বললেন, “মহারাজ, ইস্রায়েলের সেনাবাহিনীকে আপনার সঙ্গে যেতে দেবেন না| কারণ বর্তমানে প্রভু ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের সঙ্গে নেই, ইফ্রয়িম গোষ্ঠীর সঙ্গেও নেই|
KJV : But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD [is] not with Israel, [to wit, with] all the children of Ephraim.
YLT : and a man of God hath come in unto him, saying, `O king, the host of Israel doth not go with thee; for Jehovah is not with Israel -- all the sons of Ephraim;
RV : But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, {cf15i to wit}, with all the children of Ephraim.
RSV : But a man of God came to him and said, "O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel, with all these Ephraimites.

BNV : যদি তোমরা যুদ্ধে যাও তোমরা অবশ্যই একটি কঠিন যুদ্ধের জন্য নিজেদের প্রস্তুত রেখো| ঈশ্বর হয়তো তোমাদের বাধা দেবেন কারণ ঈশ্বরের ক্ষমতা আছে তোমাকে সাহায্য করতে অথবা তোমাকে বাধা দিতে|”
KJV : But if thou wilt go, do [it,] be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
YLT : but if thou art going -- do [it], be strong for battle, God doth cause thee to stumble before an enemy, for there is power in God to help, and to cause to stumble.`
RV : But if thou wilt go, do {cf15i valiantly}, be strong for the battle: God shall cast thee down before the enemy; for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
RSV : But if you suppose that in this way you will be strong for war, God will cast you down before the enemy; for God has power to help or to cast down."

ERVEN : Maybe you will make yourself strong and ready for war, but God can help you win or help you lose."

BNV : তখন অমত্‌সিয তাকে বললেন, “কিন্তু আমি এর মধ্যে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের যে অর্থ দিয়েছি তার কি হবে?” ঈশ্বরের লোক উত্তর দিলেন, “প্রভুর ভাণ্ডার অফুরন্ত| তিনি চাইলে আপনাকে এর থেকেও বেশি দিতে পারেন!”
KJV : And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
YLT : And Amaziah saith to the man of God, `And what -- to do for the hundred talents that I have given to the troop of Israel?` And the man of God saith, `Jehovah hath more to give to thee than this.`
RV : And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
RSV : And Amaziah said to the man of God, "But what shall we do about the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?" The man of God answered, "The LORD is able to give you much more than this."

ERVEN : Amaziah said to the man of God, "But what about the money I already paid to the Israelite army?" The man of God answered, "The Lord has plenty. He can give you much more than that."

BNV : অমত্‌সিয তখন ইস্রায়েলীয় সেনাদের ইফ্রয়িমে তাদের বাসভূমিতে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন| এর ফলে এরা সকলেই যিহূদার রাজা ও অধিবাসীদের ওপর অত্যন্ত ক্ষুব্ধ হয়ে ফিরে গেল|
KJV : Then Amaziah separated them, [to wit,] the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.
YLT : And Amaziah separateth them -- for the troop that hath come in unto him from Ephraim to go to their own place, and their anger doth burn mightily against Judah, and they turn back to their place in the heat of anger.
RV : Then Amaziah separated them, {cf15i to wit}, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in fierce anger.
RSV : Then Amaziah discharged the army that had come to him from Ephraim, to go home again. And they became very angry with Judah, and returned home in fierce anger.

ESV : Then Amaziah discharged the army that had come to him from Ephraim to go home again. And they became very angry with Judah and returned home in fierce anger.
ERVEN : So Amaziah sent the Israelite army back home to Ephraim. These men were very angry with the king and the people of Judah. They went back home very angry.

BNV : এরপর অমত্‌সিয বীর বিক্রিমে তাঁর সেনাদের ইদোমের লবণ উপত্যকায় যুদ্ধে নেতৃত্ব দিলেন| সেখানে তাঁর সেনাবাহিনী 10,000 সেয়ীর় সৈন্যকে হত্যা করলো,
KJV : And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
YLT : And Amaziah hath strengthened himself, and leadeth his people, and goeth to the Valley of Salt, and smiteth the sons of Seir -- ten thousand.
RV : And Amaziah took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
RSV : But Amaziah took courage, and led out his people, and went to the Valley of Salt and smote ten thousand men of Seir.
ASV : And Amaziah took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
ESV : But Amaziah took courage and led out his people and went to the Valley of Salt and struck down 10,000 men of Seir.
ERVEN : Then Amaziah became very brave and led his army to the Salt Valley in the country of Edom. There his army killed 10,000 men from Seir.

BNV : এবং আরও 10,000 সৈন্যকে পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় নিয়ে গিয়ে ধাক্কা মেরে তাদের নীচে ফেলে দিল| নীচে কঠিন পাথরের ওপর পড়বার জন্য এইসব সৈনিকদের মৃত্যু হল|
KJV : And [other] ten thousand [left] alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces.
YLT : And ten thousand alive have the sons of Judah taken captive, and they bring them to the top of the rock, and cast them from the top of the rock, and all of them have been broken.

ERVEN : They also captured 10,000 men from Seir and took them to the top of a cliff. Then the army of Judah threw them from the top of the cliff while they were still alive and their bodies were broken on the rocks below.

BNV : কিন্তু এসমযে যে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয় সেনাদের অমত্‌সিয ফেরত্‌ পাঠিয়েছিলেন তারা যিহূদার বৈত্‌-হোরোণ থেকে শমরিয়া পর্য়ন্ত অঞ্চলের শহরগুলো আক্রমণ করতে শুরু করেছিল| এরা 3,000 ব্যক্তিকে হত্যা করে বহু দামী দামী জিনিস লুঠ করেছিল|
KJV : But the soldiers of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.
YLT : And the sons of the troop that Amaziah hath sent back from going with him to battle -- they rush against cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-Horon, and smite of them three thousand, and seize much prey.
RV : But the men of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote of them three thousand, and took much spoil.
RSV : But the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, not letting them go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Bethhoron, and killed three thousand people in them, and took much spoil.
ASV : But the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote of them three thousand, and took much spoil.
ESV : But the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, not letting them go with him to battle, raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon, and struck down 3,000 people in them and took much spoil.
ERVEN : Meanwhile, the Israelite army was attacking towns in Judah. They attacked the towns from Beth Horon all the way to Samaria. They killed 3000 people and took many valuable things. They were angry because Amaziah didn't let them join him in the war.

BNV : ইদোমীয়দের যুদ্ধে পরাজিত করার পর অমত্‌সিয স্বদেশে ফিরে এলেন| ফিরে আসার সমযে অমত্‌সিয সেয়ীরের লোকেদের সেই মূর্ত্তিগুলো এনেছিলেন| এরপর অমত্‌সিয নিজে সেইসব মূর্ত্তি পূজো করতে শুরু করলেন| এদের সামনে তিনি নত হয়েছিলেন এবং তাদের কাছে ধুপধূনো জ্বালাতেন|
KJV : Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up [to be] his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, after the coming in of Amaziah from smiting the Edomites, that he bringeth in the gods of the sons of Seir, and establisheth them to him for gods, and before them doth bow himself, and to them he maketh perfume.
RV : Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.
RSV : After Amaziah came from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought the gods of the men of Seir, and set them up as his gods, and worshiped them, making offerings to them.
ASV : Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.
ESV : After Amaziah came from striking down the Edomites, he brought the gods of the men of Seir and set them up as his gods and worshiped them, making offerings to them.
ERVEN : Amaziah came home after he defeated the Edomites. He brought the idols that the people of Seir worshiped. He started to worship those idols. He bowed down in front of them and burned incense to them.

BNV : এতে প্রভু যারপরনাই রুদ্ধ হলেন এবং অমত্‌সিযের কাছে এক ভাব্বাদীকে পাঠালেন| তিনি এসে অমত্‌িসযকে বললেন, “তুমি কেন হঠাত্‌ ভিনদেশীয মূর্ত্তির পূজো শুরু করলে? এইসব মূর্ত্তিগুলো তো এদের উপাসকদেরও তোমার বিরুদ্ধে রক্ষা করতে পারেনি|”
KJV : Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?
YLT : And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Amaziah, and He sendeth unto him a prophet, and he saith unto him, `Why hast thou sought the gods of the people that have not delivered their people out of thy hand?`
RV : Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thine hand?
RSV : Therefore the LORD was angry with Amaziah and sent to him a prophet, who said to him, "Why have you resorted to the gods of a people, which did not deliver their own people from your hand?"
ASV : Wherefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?
ESV : Therefore the LORD was angry with Amaziah and sent to him a prophet, who said to him, "Why have you sought the gods of a people who did not deliver their own people from your hand?"
ERVEN : The Lord was very angry with Amaziah, so he sent a prophet to him. The prophet said, "Amaziah, why have you worshiped the gods those people worship? Those gods could not even save their own people from you!"

BNV : এর উত্তরে অমত্‌সিয উদ্ধতভাবে সেই ভাব্বাদীকে বললেন, “চুপ কর নয়তো মারা পড়বে| আমরা কি তোমাকে রাজার পরামর্শদাতা নিয়োগ করেছি?” সেই ভাব্বাদী তখন বললেন, “প্রভু তাহলে সত্যি সত্যিই তোমার পাপাচরণের জন্য তোমাকে ধ্বংসের মুখে ঠেলে দিচ্ছেন যেহেতু তুমি আমার উপদেশ নিলে না|”
KJV : And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that [the king] said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, in his speaking unto him, that he saith to him, `For a counsellor to the king have we appointed thee? cease for thee; why do they smite thee?` And the prophet ceaseth, and saith, `I have known that God hath counselled to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel.`
RV : And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that {cf15i the king} said unto him, Have we made thee of the king-s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
RSV : But as he was speaking the king said to him, "Have we made you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be put to death?" So the prophet stopped, but said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel."
ASV : And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Have we made thee of the kings counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
ESV : But as he was speaking, the king said to him, "Have we made you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?" So the prophet stopped, but said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel."
ERVEN : When the prophet spoke, Amaziah said to the prophet, "We never made you an advisor to the king. Be quiet! If you don't be quiet, you will be killed." The prophet became quiet, but then said, "God has decided to destroy you because you did this and didn't listen to my advice."

BNV : অমত্‌সিয তাঁর মন্ত্রণাদাতাদের সঙ্গে পরামর্শ করার পর ইস্রায়েলের রাজা য়িহোযাহসের পুত্র যেহূর পৌত্র য়িহোযামকে খবর পাঠালেন, “চলো আমরা সম্মুখ যুদ্ধ করি|”

ERVEN : Then Jehoash sent his answer to Amaziah. Jehoash was the king of Israel and Amaziah was the king of Judah. Jehoash told this story: "A little thornbush of Lebanon sent a message to a big cedar tree of Lebanon. The little thornbush said, 'Let your daughter marry my son.' But a wild animal came and walked over the thornbush and destroyed it.

BNV : শোনো, তোমরা ইদোমকে হারিযে দিয়েছ তাই তোমরা গর্বিত ও অহঙ্কারী হয়েছ| বাড়ীতে বসে থাক, আমাদের প্ররোচিত করো না| যদি তোমরা আমার সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে চাও তোমরা তো বটেই, এমনকি যিহূদাও পরাজিত হবে|”

BNV : কিন্তু অমত্‌সিয একথায় কান দিতে চাইলেন না| আসলে এ ঘটনা প্রভুর অভিপ্রায় অনুসারেই ঘটেছিল| ইস্রায়েলীয়দের হাতে যিহূদাকে পরাজিত করার পরিকল্পনা বয়ং প্রভুই করেছিলেন কারণ তারা ইদোমীযদের মূর্ত্তি পূজো করবার অপরাধ করেছিল|

ERVEN : Jehoash captured Amaziah at Beth Shemesh and took him to Jerusalem. Amaziah's father's name was Joash. Joash's father's name was Jehoahaz. Jehoash tore down a 600-foot section of the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.
